Learning from the experts

Learning is always an ongoing process, This past week what we learned was invaluable to the process of being in an interview. We learned that doing the extra hardwork always pays off, if not in the present moment then it will surely in the future. Teamwork again played a huge role in this experience. Another important point we all learned was what was really asked of us in the interviews based on the questions in the interview. We conducted an on-phone interview with the HR exective Mr. Shahid Masood of “precision forging”.

The following Questions were prepared and asked by us (along with the answers we got) to the HR:

Being yourself is very important because firstly you don’t want to work in an environment which is not suitable for you, and even if you do get the job by pretending to be a different person, there is a high probability that you won’t be able to stick around for long. Lastly, being yourself shows that you are self-confident and confidence is the key to success.

2. A common question asked in the interviews is “What are your strengths and weaknesses?”, how do you think the candidate should tackle this question while staying authentic about himself.

An ideal answer would be to remain confident on your strengths, and mention your weaknesses as the areas you are currently improving. Be open towards the idea of making yourself a better person.

3. How do you identify if a candidate is being real or not during an interview?

Our way of assessment differs according to the designation. Our goal is to assess if a person is as knowledgeable as his/her CV suggests. Therefore, for some designations we give different situations and see how he/she would react to those situations. There’s not always a right answer to these situations, but it gives us an idea of the person’s personality. However, sometimes we require a technical person so we ask technical questions to decide if the person is capable.

4. To what extent does it affect the profile of the candidate if he is not equipped for the interview?

It definitely is very important to be prepared for your interview as it shows your interest and a positive attitude. You can only be confident in yourself if you are prepared.

5. What suggestions you may have on how to be fully equipped for an interview?

Be mentally prepared and do your homework on the organization, be well dressed , take all the documents and experience letters, speak with energy and confident, have a friendly attitude and body language, speak truth in any case, show loyalty for the organization and (the list is endless)

The 3 takeaways of our interview with Mr. Shahid are quite simple yet powerfull and can make or break your case. So always be authentic in an interview and always be equipped. Always go the extra mile as it will come handy sometimes later if not immediately.

We will try to apply these takeaways by researching the company thoroughly and by modifying our Resume and cover letter specifically for the company. We will carry all the required documents to the interview and be authentic about the questions asked.
