Nights of Darkness Before the Light

The light always heals the worst life can bring

The hurt wraps around you like the darkness itself,
your way lost,
your soul crushed by the pain.
You hide in the shadows of the night praying the pain will pass,
begging for the light to find you again.

What could have been will never be,
you are now alone in the darkness of all that was lost,
weary of the fight,
overwhelmed by the hate,
believing you will never find your way back to you again.

But the light always comes,
you will get off the floor,
you will breathe again,
you will stand against the darkness that nearly killed you,
the worst the world has given you wasn’t enough to crush your spirit.

The morning light will be your friend again,
bringing hope and restoring faith,
the light promises a tomorrow you never believed could be yours,
the darkness fades into grays as the pain is slowly denied each day,
every day you are stronger defeating the worst gifts of another dark night.

The light always heals,
always takes away the darkest of hours,
I stand with my face to the sun,
bring the day to me,
share the light of another beautiful morning where I am alive.
