Stay Present In Your Relationships

tears pool at the folds
of your chin
in an empty coffee house under
December skies.

steam from your coffee
fills space the between us.

at this moment
I’m transported
lost in the melody
of our morning chorus.

burrowed in linen we watch
as summer sings and birds dance
breaking the ray of light
that ignites the wonder in your eyes.
the end.

the beginning
of your coffee leaves
cinnamon rocks on the rim
of a cup lifted nervously to
the lips of a former lover.

but your love has gone cold
in December,
and I can’t stay
where my feet are.

Be attentive, be aware, and be present.
